Fable: The Journey

From August 2011 until September 2012 I have been working at Microsoft/Lionhead Studios in Guildford, Surrey.

The project I worked on was Fable: The Journey, the latest instalment of the critically acclaimed Fable series. Fable: The Journey takes advantage of the unique features of Kinect for Xbox 360 to deliver an entirely new way to experience the Fable universe. The game will be released in 2012.

My responsibilities as part of the level design department included:

  • Planning, prototyping and blocking out of levels for gameplay evaluation
  • Initial art and decoration passes before handover to the art department
  • Gameplay polishing
  • Basic Kismet scripting before handover to the scripting department
  • Lighting and particle effects
  • Technical optimization and content optimization, specifically aiming at the Xbox 360 hardware and Kinect
